Southwestern Energy is hiring a Landman for our Morgantown, West Virginia office.

 

To be successful in this role you will:   

 

Have a general understanding of most land techniques. Under general supervision, you will complete routine land assignments independently. Functional responsibilities will vary and may include the essential duties listed below.

 

  • Researching county property records to determine surface and coal ownership; identifying existing rights-of-way, easements and/or agreements encumbering the property
  • Examining title and curing any defects impacting operations
  • Directing multiple field brokers, monitoring broker billings and statements
  • Providing Land support to all facets of Operations such as Drilling, Completions, Water, Production, Regulatory, Construction and Planning
  • Preparing and providing project specific budgets and be accountable for such
  • Introductory knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations; including regulatory issues
  • Preparing and presenting reports to management and other departments on status of projects
  • Drafting, reviewing, and interpreting multiple industry related agreements; including the management and compliance of agreements
  • The broad scope of responsibilities will include the facilitation of all land-related activity within a company Business Unit.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of land and negotiating principles, theories, and concepts; and have a wide understanding of how Land interacts, advises, and collaborates with geoscience, engineering, operations, legal, regulatory and other professional groups.

 

Your Background Includes:  

 

  • 3 years of in-house experience working with broad based exploration and development projects. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business or a related field or Law Degree (J.D.) from an accredited Law school or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment with multiple and sometimes changing priorities.
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals
  • Demeanor that will project a positive image for the Company
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills 
  • Membership and participation in industry society 
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office Suite, ARCMAP/GIS knowledge helpful.
